August 15, 2022 Bro. Clarence Frater, Third Vice President and Sector Leader led a delegation to call on the work family of the late Shannon Briscoe, a former correctional officer from the Horizon Adult Remand Centre, Department of Correctional Services. The visit was to commiserate with his work family on the loss of their beloved. In the delegation were Second Vice President Kelvin Thomas, Honourary Treasurer Melaini Mullings-Arnold, Acting General Secretary George Thorpe and Acting Administration Coordinator with oversight for Public Relations and Communication Helen Hutchinson-Mason. Bro. Herbert Gray, colleague of the deceased as well as the officers from the Horizon Adult Remand Centre received the Jamaica Civil Service Association entourage. The body of the late Shannon Briscoe was discovered in his community of Seaview Gardens in St Andrew on Saturday, August 13. Briscoe was reported missing on August 11. Commissioner of Corrections Lieutenant Colonel Gary Rowe said the DCS family is saddened by the loss. He said it has been a "gloomy day" for the department, especially the staff at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre in Kingston where Briscoe was assigned up to the time of his death From left- Acting General Secretary George Thorpe, Honorary Treasurer Melaini Mullings-Arnold, Third Vice President and Sector Leader Clarence Frater and Second Vice President Kelvin Thomas at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre this morning where they met with colleagues of slain Correctional officer the late Shannon Briscoe.
